	In 1938, Jane M Ewing1 became proprietor of Oak Bay Hotel and renamed it Ewing Apartment Hotel. The front entrance was reorientated from 1225 Newport Avenue to 1420 Beach Drive to face Oak Bay Beach.
	A year later she renamed it The Old Charming Inn.
1 Jane M Ewing was previously proprietor of Osborne Court (1932) and, just down the street, The Small Charming Hotel (1934–1937) at 1456 Beach Drive
